FTC Sends $10.9M Checks to Credit Repair Scam Victims

The Federal Trade Commission sends more than $10.9 million in checks to 443,048 consumers harmed by a credit repair pyramid scheme run by Financial Education Services and aliases like United Wealth Education. The FTC sued in 2022, alleging the operation preyed on people with low credit scores, promised easy fixes, and pushed them into recruiting others while charging illegal upfront fees.
