Coast Guard Rescues Snowmobiler Stranded on Ice in Blizzard
The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw rescues a 55-year-old snowmobiler stranded on broken ice about a mile off Mackinac Island's west shore during brutal blizzard conditions. Local fire and EMS respond first after a 4:40 p.m. Sunday call, but waist-deep snow and jagged ice force them back as the Coast Guard takes over.
